MSXML6.CAB

Hi,

I am currently using msxml4.dll as part of my web application, but my project manager requested that I update to MSXML6. That makes sense, but I cannot find a corresponding msxml6.cab file that I can download and distribute. The only thing that I web search turned up is MSXML6 SP1 MSI, which does not help web installations and cross operating system compatibility.

1. Is there an msxml6.cab? If so how can I get it?

2. Is it legal to redistribute msxml6.cab, if it exists? If not, can I redistribute msxml4.cab?

Thanks in advance,

Sarah M. Weinberger

Don′t know if that is still valid, but did you see the Blog from the XMLTeam of MS ?

http://blogs.msdn.com/xmlteam/archive/2006/10/23/using-the-right-version-of-msxml-in-internet-explorer.aspx

"Hi Andrew, right now we don't support CAB installation for MSXML6. But we've heard from a bunch of folks now that this is an important scenario so we're looking at wrapping our existing installer. "

Maybe you can come along with the MSI package and can create a boostrapper ?

MSSQLSERVER service automatically stop

MSSQLSERVER Service automatically stops. When I use Service manager to start it, it will start for a few seconds and will stop afterwards. I am using SQL developer edition under Windows XP pro.

MSSQLSERVER and SQLExpress coexist?

i had sqlserver2000 (including the enterprise manager and desktop engine) and .net 2003 installed in my development machine, I developed a vb.net application that communicates with a locally hosted mssql db.

recently i had .net 2005 and MS Server 2005 installed, then I converted my application in .net 2005, after, I started having problem deploying the application and db together to client machine and even on my own development machine, it's all database communication sort of problems. (now i have SQL Server Management Studio Express CTP installed)

Did i make any mistake? should i uninstall sqlserver2000, .net 2003 before installing server2005 and .net 2005?

btw, in my explorer, C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server, i have 5 subfolders: "80", "90", "MSSQL", "MSSQL.1" and "MSSQL$SETUPTESTAPPINS". i know that 80 and MSSQL are the folders for server2000, 90 and MSSQL.1 are probably server2005 folders. but what is "MSSQL$SETUPTESTAPPINS"? from the readme.txt i found it's related to server2000, but what is it about?

also, in my registry, HKEY_Local_Machine/Software/Microsoft/Microsoft SQL Server/, the value of "InstalledInstances" is MSSQL SETUP TESTAPPINS SQLEXPRESS, after i removed SQLServer2000 stuff, the key value became "SETUP TESTAPPINS SQLEXPRESS", Now i dont have server2000 in my system anymore, how come SETUP TESTAPPIN is still there?

sorry for my bad explanation, plz help

This question might be better answered in the Setup forum, but from what I can gather from your statements, I don't think you did anything wrong. SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 will coexist on a single machine, as will the .NET versions. That may be where your issue is.

If you can post the specific errors you're seeing, that might a better place to start.

MSSQL Slowing Down until unusable.

Over time, MSSQL seems to get slower and slower until we cannot even log into the db list using Enterprise Manager.
We are using:
Win2k Pro SP3
2 @. 1ghz Pentium processors
2 gig RAM
143 GB Disk space 3 hot swap Raid 5

It seems in time the speed of the server slows until it almost becomes unusable. We run Optimization and Integrity checks without errors once a week. There are about 300 databases on the server, the largest being about 1.5 gig. Full backup every night.
Our web applications are used during the day (bulk insert is used alot by the web application) so I logged in to the server at about 3am to find the high memory use and Page Faults at over 1.5 million. This is while the server is getting no queries. I watched as the page faults just continually increased at about 100 to 200 per second.
We eventually have to move to the backup server, re-build the server and it will be good for a few months. Any suggestions or ideas?Originally posted by tpmcmaho

did you dump transaction log after Full Backup?|||Thanks for the reply...

No, I did not dump the transaction log files on the databases.

DB maint. is from the standard wizard:
-Reorganize data and index pages
-Optimize w/remove unused space from database files
-Check Integrity w/include indexes, attempt repair

Data and Trans. files are set to grow automatically by 10% unrestricted.
Options inlcude Auto Shrink.

Thank you!|||As far as autoshrink option is set to true it may hamper ur speed b'coz as soon as it gets shrunk again it starts increase to its default size which is required for the database for its manipulation.
In brief again it consumes ur resources .
This overhead u can avoid by autoshrink to manually when there is very less workload on sql server like (break).
2nd option could be problem with indexes which are clustured do u check showcntig reports scan density page density etc if not pl go through it it may give u some improvements in performance after running indexdefrag followed by index name.
there are some more options which i can tell u may be after getting -ve some reply from u .

mssql service manager don't start

after a black out mssqlservice doesn't start also if i try to start it manually
it say no errors or alert windows just return to stop status after few second
have an idea?
i don't know much about mssql this program is used only by my main
billing/accountacy program
thank you for your answer
exscuse for my bad english i am italian
Stivi,
I'm not sure that the problem have something to do with this but i think you
can try.
Sometimes happens that the account used with mssqlservice is not well
configured.
Use Services in the administrative tools to see wich account is used to
authenticate mssqlservice. This account must have administrative permissions
in the machine and the password must not expire or be changed by anyone.
after verifying this try to restart the service.

|||Check the application and system event logs to see why the service
isn't starting. If your server didn't have a UPS then the abrupt
shutdown could've damaged files on the hard drive. As a consequence
the service encounters a damaged file and is unable to start.
Hopefully you (or your system administrator) can fix the
problem...otherwise, be prepared to uninstall/reinstall SQL Server

MS-SQL Script Question

MS-SQL 2000

Is there any way to run a SQL script against MSDE other than with OSQL? (No Enterprise manager or Query Analyzer)

TIA

Vehicle Web Studio - The easiest way to create and maintain your vehicle related website.
http://www.vehiclewebstudio.comYou will have to have a client app of some sort (osql/isql/etc). Basically, the
client app will open a connection to your server, parse the content of your
script file into batches delimited by GO, then execute the batches against the
server.

It's quite easy to implement an ado connection to sqlserver, parse the script
file and execute it. QALite on the site does just that.
