how do I fix this?Seems that WINS or DNS does not work properly. Can you ping the KENSHIN name in the command prompt ?

|||Yes, I can ping KENSHIN in the command prompt.|||
I'm having the same issue as Dante. I have this issue on a Windows XP SP2 - based system. I didn't think of trying to ping the server name, since I'm trying to set up the instance on a local machine.
One thing that I also found, was that there were no OBDC drivers listed in my Data Source Administrator console. Now, I watched as the setup program stated that it was installing MDAC components, so what's correlation?

I'm having the same issue as well. We've tried reinstalling MDAC, re-SP4ing and now just detached the dbs and reinstalling SQL Server 2000.
I get the same error messages. Is there a resolution to this?
|||How are you connecting to the DB on the production server? DSN, DSN-less? If DSN, is the DSN setup correctly on the live server? If DSN-less, is the driver present?
Also check if there is any anti-virus & anti-spyware is installed on the machine that will have this negative effect of SQL installation, so you might try stopping them until the SQL installation is finished.
|||i fixed it already well i never installed MSSQL dont need it anymore i have my db's up and running with out it
